Bellhop Glass
One of E. Barber & J. Osgerby’s most iconic designs for Flos, the Bellhop began as a compact, colourful portable lamp and has since expanded into a full range of lighting solutions. The Bellhop collection now includes a floor lamp, wall uplighter and outdoor bollard.

From portable to glass
Over the past eight years, Bellhop has evolved into a series of successful products. Originally designed for the Design Museum restaurant, the lamp was initially created to bounce light off surfaces. Bellhop Glass marks a significant shift—not just in scale but in materials as well. Glass and metal have replaced plastic, allowing the entire product to emit a soft, uniform glow instead of reflecting light off its surface.

Dual light emission
The Suspension model is unique in its dual functionality, providing both ambient and task lighting. It delivers focused, non-blinding light directly to the surface below.
A carefully designed bottom aperture prevents glare, ensuring visual comfort for those seated nearby.

Special glass for a special light
In collaboration with the Flos R&D Department, a custom triplex opaline glass diffuser was developed. Three layers of glass—clear, white, and another clear—are mouth-blown simultaneously, with varying thicknesses for each. Afterward, the diffuser undergoes a 24-hour cooling process in a kiln, which starts at around 800 degrees.

A model to suit any space
The Bellhop Glass family features table, ceiling and suspension models, offering versatile lighting solutions for a wide range of interiors, with each version bringing an elegant presence to the space. This expanded family allows the signature Bellhop design to adapt effortlessly to different settings and needs, from intimate corners to more functional compositions.

Three colours
For the table model, the Bellhop features an aluminium base and is available in Bright Aluminium, Cioko, and White. It also comes in three sizes for the suspension model.
